Virtual Tamil Classes until December 2020

We will continue to have Tamil Classes virtually until December 2020. The Board will evaluate the situation in December to determine whether we can extend the Online classes or go in-person in January. Only if the situation is safe for everyone we will have in-person classes.

"Open Book" Monthly Tests

Due to Coronavirus, the school is functioning virtually. So, all students are expected to complete open book exams for the remaining three tests (Test 6, 7 and final exam). Parents should download the question paper from this link http://njvallalarpalli.org/monthlytest6 , take a print out and give the test to the Students. If you don't have a printer at home, please have your child answer the questions in a plain white paper. Please scan the answer sheets and send them back to the teachers for grading. We would like to follow some guidelines to make the testing process as fair and as beneficial as possible for everyone. While students are allowed to use any class materials when taking the test, they are expected to take the test by themselves without help from anyone. The oral part of the exam is to be uploaded as an audio file. Parents can help with giving the dictation words (and also with the oral questions as needed). Coronavirus : Virtual Classes at Vallalar Tamil School

Due to the growing concerns about Coronavirus (COVID - 19) pandemic and to ensure the safety of our Students and Volunteers, Tamil Classes at Vallalar Tamil School went virtual today for the first time. We had our first Virtual Classes this morning for the entire School from Pre-k-1 to Grade 7 through WebEx. Though there is no substitute for in-person learning and interaction, the online classes were largely successful due to your efforts of our Teachers. Kudos to our Teachers for their efforts. For Pre-K students, Teachers shared materials in the WhatsApp groups as they are too young to study in this kind of model. Students can work based on the materials and submit the work to the teachers with parents help. From Basic 1 onwards, WebEx worked out well. Teachers shared the study materials through screen share. English Public Speaking Course

Public speaking is a highly sought after soft skill. Public speaking skill helps in building confidence and Leadership qualities in students. We are going to start the "English Public Speaking Course" at our Tamil School for students studying in Elementary grades (Ages 7 to 12) to enable them become confident in English Language and Public Speaking. This will be a free course for Vallalar Tamil School Students. The classes will be after the Tamil Classes, between 12:30 to 1:30PM. There will be 10-12 classes between March and June 2020. At the end of the course, students will participate in an "English Public Speaking competition" to showcase their skills. This course will be handled by our Tamil School Students as part of their "Girls Scouts Silver Awards Project". Students Safety, Drop-off & Pick-up Procedures

Student safety is one of our top priorities. Making sure students get to their classrooms as they enter school and safely picked up at school dismissal is a big task, so your cooperation with the procedures below is greatly appreciated! Driving inside the School Premises Please drive with caution when coming inside the School premises and obey traffic rules. Any traffic violations will be reported to the local police by the School Management to ensure the safety of our students. Park only in designated spaces. Parking along the curb is not allowed. Watch out for students and parents walking between the parking lot and school front door. Parents should always accompany the students up until the School front door.
